JWA | Wanna Fly North for the Summer? Air Canada’s New Toronto to OC Service marks John Wayne Airport’s First International Service by Terence Loose

On April 8, 2010 Air Canada’s first flight from Toronto to John Wayne Airport in Orange County touched down just after 8 p.m., establishing JWA’s first international route. The return flight will take off just 12 hours later, at 8 a.m., Friday. But don’t worry, if you miss this one, you can catch another, thanks to the new year-round service aboard a 120-seat Airbus A319.

The contact increases the number of non-stop destinations from John Wayne Airport to 20 and the number of commercial airlines offering service from Orange County to 11 (plus two commuter airlines). It also marks Air Canada’s dedication to its major summer expansion of routes between Toronto and California, including a new route to San Diego, more service to San Francisco and the introduction of a wide-body aircraft featuring Air Canada’s industry leading Executive First service with lie flat suites on select flights to Los Angeles.

John Wayne Airport says ‘Aloha’ Daily to Orange County Travelers this March

Orange County natives can now hang ten more often thanks to Continental Airlines expanded service between John Wayne Airport and the Hawaiian Islands. In December, 2009, Continental Airlines announced new flights between Orange County and Maui and that their service between The OC and Honolulu will increase to daily.

The new Orange County-Maui flight will operate four times weekly, departing John Wayne Airport (SNA) at 5:20 p.m. and arriving at Maui’s Kahului Airport (OGG) at 8:05 p.m. The return flight will depart Maui at 11:10 p.m. and arrive at Orange County at 7:45 a.m. the next day, except on Saturdays when it will depart 40 minutes later. Continental will utilize a Boeing 737-700 on the new route with 124 seats, and plans to increase the service to daily during the summer.

In addition, Continental will increase from four times weekly to daily, service between John Wayne Airport and the Honolulu International Airport (HNL). The new daily flight will depart Orange County at 9 a.m. and arrive at Honolulu at 11:45 a.m., returning from Honolulu at 1 p.m. and arriving at 9:35 p.m. Continental will also operate the new route with a 124-seat Boeing 737-700.
